[edit] Personnel Agenda

I am extremely familiar with the content of this Wikipedia page, and was quite shocked at the realization of some of the modification you had made. I also reside in Vancouver. He does not own those publications referenced (ex. Hollywood North is a magazine, Hollywood North Internet Site is different), he was not involved with Quadtech, it simply took over a public company he was involved with, and he resigned as President once that took place. I was not sure at the time why you removed sourced references and replaced it with irrelevant filings from a company Meier was involved with many years ago, as well as even deleted the information that his dad is John Meier. So I did some research and it seems you have a personnel agenda against anything relating to John Meier in regards to accusations of Wikipedia being used to promote a book. If you do have a personal agenda, please work that out with them directly and not take your fight onto this site. I have made, what I believe, are some good edits as a reflection to both the original users article and your edits. Jim Meier is well known in Vancouver, I read about him in the papers once in awhile, so it would not be very difficult for me to track down any information required.

There was information on the motion picture industry in Vancouver. I am not exactly sure how relevant that is to this particular article, if anyone feels it is, please do add it back in, complete with a citation. -Amanda —Preceding unsigned comment added by AmandaH2 (talkcontribs) 22:35, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

SEC filings are not irrelevant. They help establish the bona fides of the subject of the article. Claims have been asserted that he is a major figure in the film and television industry. How he achieved it isn't exactly clear, aside from affiliations with known industry groups. There's no record I can find of Meier financing or otherwise involved in the productions of films and television programs -- if you or anyone else does have it, by all means provide it. If you look at the various filings associated with Jim Meier, it does lend itself to questions as to what exactly his business is. Maybe it's worth mentioning that he had in development a $50 million film about his father (see the Vanity Fair link reference provided), but that project never got off the ground.
As for having a personal agenda, I'm not even sure that warrants comment. I stand by every one of my contributions to Wikipedia. Alcarillo (talk) 23:43, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] POV and neutrality

This seems to be a recent and ongoing issue with articles related to Jim Meier, his father John H. Meier, some book about his dad (Age of Secrets) -- which is neutrality. After considerable edits to this one, I believe I got it to where it no longer reads like a straight up promotional piece. At first I even questioned Jim Meier's notability having not found a single piece of information about him on imdb.com or tv.com. However, according to the press page on one of his company websites [1], Meier has had a good deal of press. My other concern is that some of the press coverage is either old (mid- to late-90s), and/or sourced from companies that Meier is affiliated with.

What this article could use is more sourced information that is verifiable, (ie full citations with appropriate links to articles). It could also use review from someone not involved in creating this article and the host of others around it. Alcarillo (talk) 16:02, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Business interests and valid occupation

This article was created presenting Meier as an entertainment executive. However, it seems to be that his affiliation in the television and film industry is no longer current. A review of various companies owned or founded by Meier indicate that he divested himself of studio leasing and management operations around 1999. A further search of companies registered under his name with the SEC indicate that most are either "dormant" or in "development stage" -- that seems to indicate a notability problem, at least in the entertainment industry (note too, no mention of Meier in imdb.com or tv.com). The article needs more independent verification of Meier's film and tv-related accomplishments.

I tried to make sense of the various filings and 10K forms found on secinfo.com, and I invite others to look into this further. The site does require a login in order to complete searches. A valid login (as of today) that I created can be found at bugmenot.com. Alcarillo (talk) 17:40, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Hollywood North Internet Site"

I cannot find anything called this. Does anyone know what the URL is/was? I found this site but not sure if it's the same thing. Alcarillo (talk) 17:19, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
