Jimmy Evert

James Evert (born 31 July 1923 in Chicago, Illinois) is former American tennis player, and the father of Chris Evert.

He won the 1940 Indoor Juniors title. After serving briefly in the United States Army, Evert attended the University of Notre Dame on a tennis scholarship, where he majored in economics. In 1947, he won the men's singles title at the Canada Masters.

Evert taught all five of his children at the tennis center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that was named in his honor in 1997. He also coached Jennifer Capriati, Brian Gottfried, and Harold Solomon.
