James Clifton Wright (born December 21, 1950) is a former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball.[1] Wright was born in Reed City, Michigan.

Wright was a starting pitcher. He pitched 3 shutouts in 24 games played as a rookie. Wright won 8 out of his 12 games played as a rookie. He also earned an ERA of 3.57 by the end of the season. As a fielder, Wright only committed one error in his 24 games played. 1979 was Wright's final year as a Major League baseball player. He appeared in 11 games as a relief pitcher, earning one win. He ended the season with an ERA of 5.09. Wright also committed no errors that season.[2] He played his final game on June 6, 1979.
