James (Jim) Edward Thomas (born October 19, 1960, in Lakeland, Florida) is a retired American basketball player. A 6'3", 190 lb guard, he played college basketball at Indiana University from 1979–1983, and played professionally in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, L.A. Clippers, and Minnesota Timberwolves from 1983–1990. While playing for coach Bobby Knight at Indiana he was the starting shooting guard on the 1984 National Championship Team, and also on the 1984 Final Four All Tournament Team. Thomas played competitively at Nova High School in Davie, Florida.
He played for the US national team in the 1982 FIBA World Championship, winning the silver medal.[1]
He has worked as an assistant coach and scout for the Toronto Raptors.
