Jim Parsons (born March 24, 1973) is an American television and film actor, best known as 'Sheldon Cooper, Ph.D, Msc.', on the sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
Parsons played the role of Tim, the Medieval Times knight, in the film Garden State. He had a recurring role as Rob Holbrook on Judging Amy and currently stars in the television series The Big Bang Theory with Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco. In the Big Bang Theory, he portrays a physicist with two PhDs and a masters degree.
Parsons was raised in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Klein Oak High School in 1991. He received a BA in theater from the University of Houston. While in college, he helped create Infernal Bridegroom Productions, a not-for-profit theater company. He acted in many productions, including Endgame, Guys and Dolls and The Balcony. Parsons currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. He loves to play the piano and enjoys watching sports, especially tennis, baseball, and basketball.
