Jim Nelson (GQ editor-in-chief)

Jim Nelson is the current editor-in-chief of GQ Magazine, appointed by Condé Nast in early 2003 to replace the late Art Cooper. Before making the shift to magazines, Nelson began his journalism career in television, first working as a producer and writer at CNN and later moving to Hollywood where he worked briefly as a writer's assistant on television sitcoms. He made the shift to magazines at age thirty, starting with an internship at Harper's, under Lewis Lapham, and moved to GQ shortly thereafter to work as an editor. Nelson has been influential on the careers of such writers as Michael Paterniti, Andrew Corsello, Elizabeth Gilbert, Wil S. Hylton, Lisa DePaulo. The magazine has won multiple ASME awards under his tenure in various categories.
