Jim McDonald (soccer)

Jim McDonald is a former professional soccer player. He played 5 times for the Canadian national soccer team.

McDonald played one season in the North American Soccer League, 1973 with the Toronto Metros. A defender, he played in four straight internationals for Canada in their back four - in 1973, on October 7 in a 2-0 away win over Luxemburg; November 10 in a 1-5 away lose to and November 12 in a 1-0 away win over Haiti both played in Port-au-Prince; and on April 14, 1974 in a 0-0 away draw to Bermuda in Hamilton.

McDonald also played in a pre-Olympic friendly lose to Hungary played in Montreal on August 10, 1975, although an official cap was not awarded. He did not play in the Olympics however.

McDonald also earned 3 U-20 caps playing for Canada at the 1973 CONCACAF Youth Championship in Mexico.
