James Edward McConnon (born June 21, 1922, Burnopfield, County Durham, died January 26, 2003, Altrincham, Lancashire) was an English cricketer who played in 2 Tests in 1954 as an off spin bowler. He played for Glamorgan from 1950 to 1961, missing 1956 when he decided to play in the Lancashire League.,
McConnon's selection for the Ashes tour of 1954-5 was controversial in that it meant that Jim Laker was not taken.[1] As it was McConnon was injured during the tour and played little. He claimed 100 wickets in a season three times with 136 at 16.07 in 1951 being his best.
