Jim Foglesong

Jim Foglesong (born July 26, 1922 in Lundale, West Virginia) was a Music Row executive in the 1970s and 1980s.

Foglesong helped lay the foundation for the new country music boom in the 1990s. As president of Dot, ABC, Capitol Records and MCA, he signed popular artists, among them Barbara Mandrell, Don Williams, Garth Brooks, Donna Fargo, Reba McEntire, the Oak Ridge Boys, George Strait, Tanya Tucker, Sawyer Brown, Suzy Bogguss. Foglesong was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004.

Foglesong is a World War II veteran and a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He began his musical career in New York as one of the most in-demand background singers in the industry. He made the move to Nashville with Dot Records.

After retiring from the active recording industry, Foglesong devoted himself to the next generation of music-makers as head of the music business department of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. His nickname at Trevecca is Professor J Fo. He currently teaches a Business of Music Class at Vanderbilt University.

He is married to Toni Foglesong, and has four children: Cindy Surridge a mortgage broker of Tampa Florida, Jimi a well known session drummer Of Nashville Tn.also employed with Metropolitan Government of Nashville as fleet services coordinator, Leslie of New York actress and singer, Russell of Goodlettsville Tn.a designer. He has nine grandchildren. William Foglesong, Kira Foglesong, Shelby Foglesong, James Foglesong III,Jeremy Gutherie,Traci Gutherie,Erica Gutherie,Amy Gutherie,Taylor Surridge. He also has five great grandchildren: James Foglesong IIII,Christian Vazquez,Peyton Vazquez,Austin Breeden, Emma Gutherie.
