Jim Callahan is a magician and paranormalist[1] from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Callahan was a contestant on the Phenomenon television series judged by supposed psychic spoon-bender Uri Geller and the "Mindfreak" Criss Angel. On Halloween, October 31, 2007, he achieved media attention after Criss Angel challenged Callahan's purported paranormal abilities, which Callahan claims he guarantees with $50,000.[2] Angel called the act "comical" and then challenged Callahan's claims and also challenged fellow judge Geller by showing an envelope and saying "I will give you a million dollars of my personal money right now if you can tell me specific details of what’s in here right now."[3] Callahan called Angel an "ideological bigot," after which Angel and Callahan proceeded to confront one another. Callahan was restrained by the show's host, Tim Vincent and ultimately failed to take Angel's challenge. On the following episode, Callahan was eliminated.[4]
