Male dogs are currently undiscovered. Females tend to have shoulder heights ranging from 55 to 60 cm (22 to 24 inches) and weights from 20 to 24 kg (45 to 55 pounds). Jack Hounds have very short hair, which is easy to maintain. They tend to have white and tan markings.

[edit] Temperament

Jack Hounds are pretty fast dogs, so naturally they are high-energy dogs (which means they are extremely hyper). Most are loving, gentle animals who like to lick a lot. Jack Hounds are often referred to "Dead Donkeys" (see resting Jack Hound above) and as "couch potatoes."

Jack Hounds make good pets because of their mild and affectionate character. They do not get along well with children most of the time, but will try to lick and play with family pets (often including cats). Jack Hounds are generally loyal, obedient dogs without a mind of their own. Their talents include jumping, barking, and licking. Most Jack Hounds that live as pets are adopted from shelters.

Most companion Jack Hounds are kept on a leash and harness because their hunting background has instilled a strong desire to chase things. Jack Hounds can live in an urban setting but require moderate exercise on a regular basis. They enjoy walking and running outside.

[edit] History

The Jack Hound is a cross between a Greyhound and a Jack Russell Terrier. As result, they tend to have personality traits of both of these breeds of dogs. See those dog breeds for more information.

[edit] Miscellaneous

The Jack Hound's best friend is the Welsh Corgi. If fact, it has been suggested that Jack Hounds desire to be Corgis.
