jido-genshi (also known as genshi) is an experimental electronic music project and pseudonym of musician and self proclaimed music-technologist Craig Anthony Perkins. Created in 1995 as a way to explore other styles of music, jido-genshi tends to be more experimental in nature utilizing a mostly software based composing and recording setup to achieve the jido-genshi sound.

All of the jido-genshi albums are released on Craig's own record label zero:genshi, a division of Genshi Media Group.

[edit] Sound and Influences

Much like his cell:burn project, Craig has been able to incorporate his sound programming skills to produce a unique yet cinematic-like sound. Using mostly software for his instruments and recording such as Max/MSP and cSound allows jido-genshi to explore more non-traditional methods of composing. Often, his albums are theme based such as "For The New Intellectual" which was based on various philosophers and the "Alison Sessions" which was based on a particular speaking, synthesized voice sound which was featured on the album.

Influences include Aphex Twin, autechre, and Boards Of Canada.

Side projects include cell:burn, VENTER and StarDotStar.
