Jhonny González [1](born September 15, 1981 in Pachuca, Hidalgo) is a Mexican professional boxer. He has a record of 34-6 (with 29 wins by KO). On October 29, 2005 González beat Ratanachai Sor Vorapin by TKO on 7th rounds, for the WBO world championship title.
On May 27, 2006, he defeated Fernando Montiel who is the current WBO Junior-bantamweight champion, by a 2-1 split decision. González is promoted by the Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions Inc. Gonzalez lost to WBC super-bantamweight champion Israel Vázquez on September 16, 2006 by knockout. The Former WBO bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (34-6, 29 KOs) was dethroned by 35 year old Gerry Penalosa (52-6-2, 35 KOs) by seventh round knockout. The fight took place at Arco Arena in Sacramento (August 11, 2007).
