[edit] Jubilee River
1. Member of the former MWEFAS-Jubilee River resident project team.
2. First edits on Wikipedia.
3. Not familiar with how to restore in-text links. Would like someone else to do that.
4. Article will be expanded with both text and pictures - but in a broad, general, first-hand form intended not to clash with Neil Young's history website, which it is a great pleasure to see on line.

[edit] Help
Hi there JHB and thanks for your contributions to wikipedia. I see your looking for some help on writing your article. Just a few pointers that I think might help.
- Don't sign edits in the main article with ~~~~ this should only be used on talk pages and wikipedia space pages. (Don't worry though. You will still be credited as the author under the history tab)
- You might want to check out the WP:PIC for details on how to insert and format images in articles.
- Generally external links in articles should only be included in the external links section. They should only be included in the main article prose if they are being used as a reference. (ie. if they are being used to backup/support an asserted fact). More details on this can be found at WP:CITE but to answer you immediate question:-
I'm sure a member of the welcoming commitee will be along shortly to welcome you properly meanwhile if you need any further help you can leave a message on my talk page Ydam 21:56, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jubilee River article
Hi JHB - not sure why you suggested I look here, but I've tidied up the Jubilee River article to be closer to Wikipedia standards. It looks a good article for the most part - a good start to you wiki editing!
I echo Ydam's comments above - it's usual in most cases to put smaller pictures to one side of an article rather than large pictures across the whole article. For any help in editing articles, click on "Help" in the Navigation menu in the side of this (or any) Wikipedia page. That will take you to several places that might be able to help you. Wikipedia:Tutorial is one you might find particularly useful.
As to linking to other articles, simply use double square brackets. For instance, if you write:
- The river runs from Maidenhead to Eton.
Then you'd get this:
- The river runs from Maidenhead to Eton.
In the case of Eton (and also Windsor) there are several places with that name, so the link would actually go to a disambiguation page linking to all the possibilities. because of that, you'd do what is known as "piping" - adding a vertical stroke to the link and putting the linked article's real name on the left of it and what you want to have appear in your article to the right, like this Eton. That would make sure the article links to the right place! Hope that helps, Grutness...wha? 06:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Thanks for all that.
I'm not here as an aspiring WikiEditor, but as an expert (but by no means the greatest) on Jubilee River.
The latest edit assumed 'Jubilee Weir' as the weir's name - but I'm sure it's not. "Marsh Weir comes to mind, but I will check out the name again before amending it.
The layout certainly looks a lot better now.
I had been quite concerned. After years and years of effort by so many people on this quite spectacular project there appeared to be nothing on line of any consequence by 2004. I was seriously contemplating providing a web presence from the project construction perspective, and that is why I tramped most of the route and formed a gallery. I very nearly registered jubileeriver.com, but then I was hospitalised for two major ops., and afterwards I never quite regained that degree of interest.
Now I have found jubilee-river.co.uk, so my concern has lifted. Certainly I would never have gone into that much painstaking detail - but on the other hand that site does not really offer 'project talk'. Someone of my ilk or better (and there are a lot who are better) is needed to inject that.
I'm quite happy about it now. Something to play with.
