Jhaveri is a common Indian surname or last name, typically but not always from the region of Gujarat. The name is common amongst Gujarati Vaishnavs and some Jains, and in the language of Gujarati the name literally means 'appraiser of precious stones'.This last name comes from bicast Soni.

The name Jhaveri is a Hindu (Vania) and Parsi name meaning ‘jeweler’, and originates from the Arabic word "jawharī" meaning "my diamond".

Though not all Jhaveri's are Jewellers by profession, this surname sticks to their names as an heirloom from their ancestors.

The jewelers market in Mumbai is commonly referred to as Jhaveri Bazaar.

Another common alternate spelling of the name is Zaveri and Javeri, with the same meaning and historical context.
