Jhalakati Sadar is located at 22.6431° N 90.2000° E . It has 36504 units of house hold and total area 204.48 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Jhalakati Sadar has a population of 195619. Males constitute are 51.13% of the population, and females 48.87%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 102890. Jhalakati Sadar has an average literacy rate of 54.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
