Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Aurore.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Aurore.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding vandalising sockpuppet

Hi. There has been a sockpuppet editing around Papa Roach and AFI (band) related articles for the past several months. He/she has been vandalising repeatedly and not explaining his/her edits, even after being kindly told to stop. User has also been blanking own talk page of warnings and such. This is a suspected sockpuppet of User:AFI-PUNK, I suggest you ask User:Seraphim Whipp about that. Their most recent ip address is 79.211.118.110. He/she has also used several other ip adresses to vandalize, including 79.211.79.16, 79.211.107.49, 79.211.92.160, 79.211.98.24, 79.211.87.128, and also countless more in the 79.211 range. I would like to know if there is a way that the whole ip address range can be blocked so this person can be stopped, at least for a while. Timmeh! 16:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank-you both for doing something about this. Seraphim♥ Whipp 19:06, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
This is really getting on my nerves. I am really getting tired of this sockpuppet's repeated vandalizing edits. Something more really needs to be done about this. I have to revert his several edits each day, and that's just on my watchlist. I'm asking if you could possibly block this range (79.211) of ip addresses. If someone in this range other than the sockpuppeteer wishes to edit constructively, it would not be hard for them to create an account or request an unblock of their specific address. This is really getting out of hand and I don't see it stopping anytime soon. I think doing this block would help the encyclopedia much more than harm it and it would save me a lot of time and effort. Thanks. Timmeh! 22:22, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

About your new articles, I keep changing your in-text external links into proper references. Is there any reason you use external links instead of ref tags (<ref></ref>)? As you may know, in-text external links are discouraged. Southern Illinois SKYWARN (talk) 01:04, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Okay I will fully use that manner, in the past I've seen some that they needed to click twice to access the source. Ottawa page weather stats

The other day I edited the "Top 12 Ottawa snowiest winters" table to reflect data I culled from the Environment Canada historical data on-line database. It accumulates data up to the previous day and according to this data, as of March 4 Ottawa had accumulated 330.1 cm of snow for 2007-2008. I did this by building a spreadsheet that summed all the daily snow fall data. What source are you using for the 350 cm. data you entered?

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Reel-Radio.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Reel-Radio.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:19, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Liquid Image Deletion

I know it is a shared IP (so you may never return at that IP but I will leave a reply note on my talk page too), but Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Liquid Image has resulted in a unanimous delete vote as it failed, WP:N, WP:MUSIC, WP:RS and WP:V. If you want to revive this article, I would suggest you to create yourself an account build-up a userfied version of an article that meets notability guidelines on music bands or acts (example: User:UserName/Liquid Image). See the links given above for tips on building an article. After that, please go to Wikipedia:Deletion review to find out whether it can be returned to a mainspace article. --JForget 02:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Ottawa neighbourhoods

As you may be aware, there is a new guideline over at WP:CANSTYLE for the titles of articles on Canadian neighbourhoods and communities. Basically, the convention is that a community title should be at [[Community, Municipality]] (e.g. Westboro, Ottawa), unless it is recognized as a distinct postal destination by Canada Post, in which case the article can be at [[Community, Province]].

We are having a problem implementing the new guideline for some Ottawa neighbourhoods. Earl Andrew has made clear he doesn't really care about the new guideline, and is making up rules (and enforcing them) as he goes along. He is making a stink over at Talk:Blossom Park, Ontario. But more importantly, he has reverted a number of article moves (which were moved to the [[Community, Municipality]] conventoon), without the decency of even bothering to comment on the talk page.

I notice that in the past you moved some of these articles to [[Community, Municipality]], which Earl reverted at the time. So your assistance with his reverts on the following would be much appreciated: Fallowfield, Ontario‎, Barrhaven, Ontario‎, Bells Corners, Ontario‎, Ficko, Ontario‎, Blackburn Hamlet, Ontario‎, Kempark, Ontario‎, Gloucester Glen, Ontario‎, Honey Gables, Ontario‎ and Cedardale, Ottawa, Ontario‎ (this last one is especially annoying, since he seems to have reverted it back to an unusual form of disambiguation without much thought). Skeezix1000 (talk) 11:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

That's great. Appreciate your input very much, and the note you left at WP:OTT. The one problem with the ones you've mentioned, however, is that they would all remain at [[Community, Province]] under the guideline, because Canada Post recognizes them as distinct postal destinations. Skeezix1000 (talk) 23:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
You should take a look at WP:CANSTYLE#Neighbourhoods, because and solutions like Orleans, Ottawa, Ontario wouldn't meet the guideline, because the goal was to have as consistent a standard as possible, and to avoid different types of disambiguation. Frankly, like yourself, I would have preferred that everything be at [[Community, Municipality]], but the consensus headed in the other direction, and in the end I just want to make sure that the article titles meet the guideline and that editors like Earl don't get the impression that they can just ignore guidelines or consensus. Skeezix1000 (talk) 23:28, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I see your point very well, but that's exactly why a black and white standard was chosen, because otherwise people have such varying degrees of impressions respecting communities. You may want to change your comment at WP:CANTALK. Skeezix1000 (talk) 23:45, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
