The JFK 50 Mile or the JFK 50 Mile Memorial is an ultra marathon that takes place in Washington County, Maryland. The first race was held in the Spring of 1963, one of numerous 50 mile races that year. After the Kennedy assassination, many of these events were never held again. The current course record is held by Eric Clifton (5:46:22)and Anne Lundblad (6:29:42) on the women's side.
The race starts in the town of Boonsboro, MD and heads east out of town toward the South Mountain Inn where it follows the Appalachian Trail to the C&O Canal. From there the Race follows the Canal to Dam #4 on the Potomac river and follows roads to Williamsport, MD.
The Race is held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
