My name is John, and I'm from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. I currently live in Moriya City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. I love the T|X.
I find myself doing a lot of small-time editing and contributing on Wikipedia, so I figured I may as well make myself an account. My current interests are in Japan, history, politics, international law, Western religions, human rights, historical linguistics. I am also interested in a handful of languages including French, Occitan languages, and Japanese languages, including Ibaraki-ben.
My interests in human rights are primarily in women and ethnic minorities, especially in regard to minority rights. I try to follow the state of the EU and civil and political developments in Iraq, especially as it pertains to Iraqi minorities.
I grew up in a home with both Eastern Orthodox Christian and Jewish convictions, and have long since lost affiliation to any religious faith or doubt thereof.
I love split infinitives and loathe 'they'.
