Main article: Jewish name

Common Jewish surnames (family names, last names), both modern and historical.

Please note: even though surnames such as Harris, Lewis, Green, Black, Miller, Gordon, and so forth are common Jewish surnames in some Western countries, they are also quite common amongst non-Jews as well. Also many names that are common in the Jewish community are really just ordinary German or Slavic surnames. Just as Smith, Thompson, Jones, Evans, Jackson, and Washington are common names in the African American community, one would not just assume they are exclusive to that culture. Most people with the names Schwartz, Klein, Roth, Hoffman, Schneider, and Meyer, etc. are gentiles despite commonality in the Jewish community.
