[edit] Question on Snead's commitment to Florida and Texas
I am copying the following from my Talk page in case anyone here wants to weigh in. Johntex\talk 00:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Johntex. If you are going to edit Jevan Snead's page then get the information correct. Check when he decommitted from Florida and committed to Texas and then check when Tim Tebow committed to Florida. Tebow's committment to UF was after Snead's committment to UT.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjcatc (talk • contribs) 15:44, 2007 August 7

- Hello Mjcatc, welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome your contributions.
- If you are going to edit Wikipedia, please be courteous. It may not be your intent, but saying things like "If you are going to edit Jevan Snead's page then get the information correct." sounds rather condescending.
- The information in the article matches what is reported in the source.
- If you think the information needs to be changed, then you can't just change the wording and leave the source in place. That gives a false information about that the source is saying.
- In order to change the information, you need to find a source to back you up. Please see WP:V and WP:RS. Wikipedia does not operate on your-say so.
- Because of the above, I am reverting your change.
- Also, please sign your posts on Talk pages. You can do this by typing ~~~~.
- Thanks, Johntex\talk 00:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Also, you can't use Wikipedia to accuse the Florida coaches of being liars. You can't say they "continually lied" to Snead like you did here. That could be considered libel/slander. It could hold Wikipedia open to legal ramifications. Please see Seigenthaler controversy. If you can cite a reputable source that claims this then you may be able to quote that source, but you can't just put it in as a fact. Johntex\talk 00:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- I see Mjcatc changed the text to say that Snead committed to Texas BEFORE Tebow committed to Florida. That is not what the source says, and I have seen several other sources that confirm the one we are citing. Therefore, I restored the earlier wording. More sources would be welcome.
