[edit] User harassment

To continue the thread over here...despite the confusion that led to Bill's comment about your admin/non-admin status, I have to tell you that I was impressed with your patience back when dealing with TougHHead. You might want to think about becoming an admin yourself one of these days. It's a hard job, whatever you do will be criticized by someone, and you'll garner your own set of stalkers, but it's also a very necessary job, and we need good people to do it. [edit] Re: User:ClueBot III/Run

Indeed it was a test. Thank you for the note, but I did revert myself ([1]). Cassie Puma (talk) 00:29, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

  • I wasn't telling User:ClueBot to stop running, I was testing User:ClueBot III, an archival bot. ClueBot III hasn't made a single edit since over 2 hours ago, and I wanted to experiment and see if saying False would make a difference. Cassie Puma (talk) 00:35, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I understand spam. My question was why was TrueFocus considered spam?

I already apologized for inappropriately adding TrueFocus to focus stacking. That was due to ignorance not mischief. If two products are mentioned under the focus stacking section of depth of field, why can't TrueFocus be mentioned as well? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.84.35 (talk) 03:28, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps they are notable products. Can you also recall what the article said? Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:32, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I can't really remember. It said something like it can take a picture without the delay that the normal autofocus cameras have. It also focuses all planes simultaneously. There's no need for moving parts. Stuff like that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.84.35 (talkcontribs)

Sorry, but that sounds like advertising, something that displays all the functions in a product without an encyclopedic tone. Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:38, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

It may be, but aren't those functions notable? Those types of comparisons are made between anything. Is it just because it's a product that makes it advertising? I'm sorry I don't have the best ability to write an encyclopedic tone, but can't someone else do that? I always here about people who only go around fixing grammar and stuff. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.84.35 (talk) 03:42, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

You can go here and someone will create your article and fix it up. Just be sure to follow the instructions. Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:44, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

So why was it considered advertising again? 75.66.84.35 (talk) 03:47, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Probably because it did not read like an encyclopedia entry, but rather something to encourage a buyer. I cannot see the article, unfortunatley. Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

You aren't an administrator?75.66.84.35 (talk) 03:53, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually, no. Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:54, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ryan serhant

Or, as you more correctly put it, Ryan Serhant. Thanks for moving this article; I suppose I've been on new page patrol for so long that it looks perfectly natural not to have a capital letter at the beginning of your last name. I also appreciate your having tagged it for notability, which nicely solved my dilemma about its prospective deletion; I felt there was just barely enough notability to keep it but it could sure use some bolstering, and this way some soap fan may provide some. My thanks for two helpful contributions. Accounting4Taste:talk 05:22, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

My pleasure -- give credit where credit is due, and it was due. I've left a note about the article on the talk page of the Soap Opera Task Force and hope they'll pick up the ball and run with it. Accounting4Taste:talk 05:28, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User talk pages

Hi, JetLover. I noticed that you've warned at least one user about their edits. Upon them removing those warnings, you restored them and placed a template, I presume made by you, indicating that such actions are not within policy and should not be done. However, as read at WP:BLANKING, "Policy does not prohibit users from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred. The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user. Deleted warnings can still be found in the page history." Also check out WP:DRC. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions. Regards, LaraLove 07:16, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I don't remember. I tried looking back through your contribs to find it, but didn't. The template has been edited to remove the comment about not blanking. If the vandalism continues after they blank their page, then you can restore the removed warnings while adding the next. Otherwise, assume good faith that they've read it and understand. The exemption is shared IPs. Warnings from those should not be blanked. Regards, LaraLove 01:40, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for letting me know! Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 03:46, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Done (after a couple of tries to find a good revision). I also declined the unblock request and protected the page. I was initially going to leave the request for someone else to review, but, the next time I checked my watchlist, the situation was quickly deteriorating, and it was nigh time to nip it in the bud. — TKD::Talk 04:44, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Should be fixed now. — TKD::Talk 04:47, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. Thanks, and happy editing! Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 23:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sultan Uddin

Sultan Uddin doesn't meet speedy deletion criteria under G7, which you tagged it for. If you check the history, you'll see that other users have made substantial contributions to the page (e.g., cleanup), making the page not meet that particular criterion. Please check the page history before making G7 taggings in future. Spebi 00:19, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

No, it's not okay, because it only applies if "the page's only substantial content was added by its author", and by judging the page history, he wasn't the only user to make substantial changes. Therefore the tag is invalid. If the author could request deletion without the "other substantial changes from other users" rule, authors could be tagging United States, Wikipedia, even Main Page for deletion. Spebi 00:29, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
I nominated it for deletion: see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sultan Uddin. Thanks. Redrocketboy 00:39, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Jet, Angie made another POV edit. Placing the word finally in the context it was means that she is on a side of the character, and not being neutral. Do you think it is time for WP:ANI, or do you think this was too little? Thanks!, Codelyoko193 (T/C) 22:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Supernatural

Yes. Lauren Cohan and Katie Cassidy joined the cast in Season 3. They are credited on-screen as stars. However, they only appear in about a third of the Season 3 episodes, so they aren't "Main Characters". Despite this, the writers/producers still list them as stars on the show. There was recently a big dispute about having them listed under the Series Leads section, but another anon IP refused to let them be there and vowed to keep reverting it, so I gave in to changing it to Main Characters and Supporting Characters on the page. However, they are still officially stars on the show. Ophois (talk) 04:57, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User talk:PaysonSmithHall

I see you've given this user two vandalism warnings. Were these really warranted? Blackie Towery is the name of an actual basketball player ([2]), and Zighinkor is a real city in Senegal. ([3]). What exactly was the content of those two articles? From what I can tell from his other contributions, this user is acting in good faith. He's just inexperienced, and what looks like vandalism may simply be poorly executed edits. Zagalejo^^^ 04:47, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, right, they're just block warnings. I still think they're a bit heavy-handed, though. The topics of his articles are topics which are generally considered notable. I think it's best to guide and encourage a user like this, rather than simply block him. Zagalejo^^^ 04:56, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, you could always write out a warning. You don't need to use a template for everything. Zagalejo^^^ 05:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch.
