Jessica Alicia Kayley, was born in 1982 to parents John Adam Kayley, a barrister who worked at St. John's Street Chambers, Manchester and to mother Chloe Caoimhe Kayley, a model and businesswoman who started a small record business, CéLéBré Records. However, there is much speculation about whether John Adam Kayley is Jessica's legitimate father, as Chloe was notorious for having affairs with many of the musicians which she employed.
The affair which ended the Kayley Snr.s marriage was an incident which landed John Adam Kayley in jail for 34 years, and which would have scarred Jessica for life had she not discovered her incredible talent at a very young age.

The couple, who live in Liverpool said yesterday at a press conference that their marriage was "perfect" and that their lives at home were "peaceful and warm", and Mrs. Kayley yesterday publicly apologised to her husband "begging for forgiveness" one local reporter said. The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". The Romans associated it with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure" and changed their spelling from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this. The name belonged to a 4th-century saint and martyr from Alexandria who was tortured on the famous Catherine wheel. Another saint by this name was Catherine of Siena, a 14th-century mystic.
