[edit] "JHS" or "IHS" ?

I'm not sure if the correct letters are "JHS." From what I've read, the correct letters are "IHS," for "Iesus Homonium Salvator" (Jesus Savior of Men), also from the first three letters of the holy name of Jesus in Greek. Rmcsamson 11:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

"J" and "I" were actually not consistently distinguished until the 17th or 18th centuries -- before that time, they were the same letter. See Christogram. AnonMoos 12:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image used in this template

The image crurently used in this template is in fact not an accurate rendition of the central part of the Jesuit emblem, and was never intended to be such (as is clearly stated on its image description page). Maybe it would be better to substitute an actual Jesuit image, like Image:Societasiesuseal.png? AnonMoos 12:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I remember putting the current photo up as a stop gap, when the previous one was taken down. As I recall, an image similar to Image:Societasiesuseal.png was used on the Society of Jesus page itself, but was not permitted on others, including the template, since it was fair use rationale. This may have changed since then, and I don't see a fair use tag on the one you suggest. Though the current one is SVG, which is also nice.--Patrick 04:00, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Teilhard

Discussion over at the Teilhard talk page (by a Teilhard supporter, I note) suggests he would not want to be listed alongside the Jesuit saints. Any reason to keep him on? He is already included in the List of famous Jesuits article. theloavesandthevicious (talk) 21:09, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

On second thought I think I'm just going to take him off and see if anyone suggests putting him back on. (It will probably get more attention this way.) theloavesandthevicious (talk) 21:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
