[edit] deletion
This article should be deleted as it is contrived as a marketing tool for Boston College and is of no real accurate informational benefit to readers of wikipedia. Perhaps if JFK had made such comments today, when BC is a first rate institution they would be of greater relevence. However, when JFK gave this speech, BC was a local commuter school with an acceptance rate of over 80%. While the "ivy league" connoted prestige, BC carried none. Even within the Catholic community, if one was came from a prominant Catholic family and had high marks they would attend College of the Holy Cross or Georgetown University. BC was an afterthought until through athletic recognition and alumni support it became the great school it is today. My point is this: wikipedia is supposed to be a source of information, not propaganda. BC has done a great job creating a classy wikipedia page, and that is fine, but when it starts creating titles like "Jesuit Ivy" for itself, the 5th ranked university in the Boston area, it is crosses the bias line.

[edit] paradox
Is "Jesuit Ivy" really a paradox, as stated, or is it just simply a contradiction? IMHO "paradox" seems a bit off here. Cfallin 10:56, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- I agree, I think using contradiction would be a more appropriate description. PaulC/T+ 12:11, 21 December 2005 (UTC) (spelling mistake PaulC/T+ 19:32, 21 January 2006 (UTC))
[edit] other BC Kennedys
Someone may want to add that Robert F. Kennedy's granddaughter Maeve Kennedy Townsend was in the class of '01 (A&S).
- Until Maeve accomplishes anything herself, I don't think she should be mentioned. Droitet 14:58, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] photo
Rather than a generic photo of the BC campus, why not one that actually shows JFK at BC? I have a copy of the famous one of him with Gasson Tower in the background. I believe it is far use, since it was issued by the White House. This would add context, as suggested in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jesuit Ivy page and placate those who claim this article is just BC boosterism. Droitet 15:04, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Uploaded a small version of the photo that I have on my computer, I'll rescan a larger version when I get to a scanner. Droitet 15:22, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
