Jessen [IPA 'jɛsn or 'jɛsən], is a Danish patronymic surname, literally meaning son of Jes. It is borne by less than 1% of the total Danish population; however, in South Jutland by more than 8% of the population[1]. The name is not uncommon in Southern Schleswig.
