[edit] Career
His music can be described as jazz/folk, and his songs are sometimes in the style of the early days of popular jazz. He began his professional career with the group "Once Blue" co-led with singer/songwriter Rebecca Martin and has recorded with indie rock groups such as Bright Eyes, but is probably best known for his songwriting and guitar contribution on Norah Jones' albums Come Away with Me (for which he won a 2003 Grammy Award for the single "Don't Know Why") and Feels Like Home. He has released six albums in total, two of which have been with Verve Records.
Recently he started his own label, Secret Sun Recordings, releasing his own album Mineral and most recently Modern Romance by the singer Sasha Dobson, which he co-produced with Richard Julian, and recorded with Terry Manning. He wrote and recorded the score for the Ethan Hawke film The Hottest State, which soundtrack features versions of his songs by artists such as Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Cat Power, Feist, M.Ward, Brad Mehldau, Bright Eyes, Tony Scherr, The Black Keys, and others.
During fall of 2006, he toured with folk singer Ani Difranco as she promoted her album, Reprieve.
In 2007 his album Feel was released along with a music video for the first single directed by Lyle Owerko.
