Jesús Selgas Cepero was born on Cienfuegos, Cuba, December 24, 1951. He resides in New York, U.S.A. since 1980.He work with painting, installations,artistic handicraft Between 1968 and 1970 he study at the Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA), Havana, Cuba. In 1980 he finished his studies at the Escuela Nacional de Diseño, Havana, Cuba. And in 1988 he pass a curse in Photography at the Fashion Institute of Design, New York, U.S.A.

[edit] Individul Exhibitions
In 1976 he did his first personal exhibition under the name "Gouaches y Tapices"in Teatro Nacional de Guiñol, Havana, Cuba. In 1982 he presented "Three Cuban Painters". Middlesex County College, Edison, New Jersey, U.S.A. He did many exhibition in this period , one of them was displayed in 1990 with the artist lastname "Selgas. Icons", Gallery Genesis, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Five years later he achieves "Remembrances" Galerie New World, Dusseldorf, Germany.

In 1977 he was part of big exhibition "Trabajos en fibra" that took place at the Museo de Artes Decorativas, Havana, Cuba. Among others he participates at the Christmas Show 1989-90. Gallery Genesis, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. New York: Up & Coming Artists. Canadian Imperial Bank Collection Exhibition, New York, U.S.A. he was also in "Mariel: A Decade After". Museo Cubano de Arte y Cultura, Miami, Florida, U.S.A. And in 1995 was included in "Art. Exhibit and Silent Auction of Works by Contemporary Artists" Jadite Galleries, New York, U.S.A.

Salgas's work has been distinguished with the First Prize in Tapestry. Museo de Artes Decorativas, Havana, Cuba in 1977. He was also awarded with the Marshall Cummings Prize, in 1989 at Citywide Art Competition, New York, U.S.A.
