I just noticed this...thanks for watching out for me.--MONGO 16:03, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:RFCU
You need to go there to have anyone checked. I don't have the tools to do it.--MONGO 19:22, 18 July 2006 (UTC) Oh, I wanted to remind you, which I did in email, that whenever checkuser is requested, it has to be through the above link. The request must always be public, but the information they return is limited by policy. They will simply declare to you that it is or isn't the person, never reveiling much else.--MONGO 22:29, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:
Sure. I also apologize if I haven't remained civil. Take care and Cheers! --Aminz 04:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi Jersey, thanks for your intervention about Zereshk's spamming. It seems he's been doing it externally too ([1]). Just a suggestion: Your note on the AFD page currently doesn't really make it clear at first sight who did the spamming and in which direction, and as it is placed under a delete vote, it might be misread as referring to a delete campaign. You might want to move your comment somewhere where it's clearer to the closing admin. Fut.Perf. ☼ 05:33, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RFA - sort of an apology
Hi, Sorry I didnt mean to hound you in your AFD but I was just interested to know everything. So apologies for any aggressive tactics.
As to the joke acceptance thingy all I can say is that it was early in the morning and not something that usually gets written (normally it's just alot of humbly accept) so in a way it's nice to see someone different.
I will back up what I said in my vote though - you need to sort those edit summaries, especially for the minor edits! they are a 4% currently. I always try and give a brief highly descriptive overview in all of my edits (especially article ones). Mostly because it really annoys me when someone edits an article on my watchlist but adds no summary - so I have to go out of my way to check changes... ah well :D
As an admin you also need to make sure you account for everything you do - especially if you want to get involved with vandals who will use any ammunition to get back at you (and win some suprising support in the process)
Anyway I wish you luck with the rest of the RFA cheers Tom, --Errant Tmorton166(Talk)(Review me) 11:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- No need to worry, anyone could have made the same mistake.--Jersey Devil 11:10, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wiki-ES
You don't need to worry about that type of problems in Wikipedia/ES. Let me tell you that the same thing happened to me when I first start editing here in the English Wikipedia. To tell you the truth, there is a huge problem in ES, which consist in the fact that some people think that "Wikipedia - Spanish" is the "Wikipedia of Spain". Don't let them discourage you, since every single article that you create over there can expand that wiki. Cheers! and any other trouble, pls let me known. Messhermit 12:25, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- They already deleted several templates that I created, so I'm as upset as you are. So far, the only thing that I'm doing in that Wiki is keeping an eye on all the articles that are located in my "watchlist". Still, let me know the name of the articles were you are working right now, so at least I can check the spelling :D . Take Care!. Messhermit 12:28, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IMages
A comment about some of your images has been raised, so if there is any doubt about them being fair use they should be deleted. Just check your image uploads and ensure they are all properly tagged. It's best to be safe than sorry about the fair use issues.--MONGO 18:47, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Good job answering the question regarding the spamming issue...you may wish to mention to a few that opposed based on that, that you have offered a reply...up to you.--MONGO 14:20, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA
Hi Jersey Devil. I wanted to ask you a quick question before I commented on your RfA. If User:Striver is involved in any action that requires administrator attention, will you involve yourself or withdraw on principle. I view this as important in my decision making. Thanks in advance and good luck with your RfA -- Samir धर्म 04:49, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

- Why did you withdraw? I felt you were being bullied. Was this the reason?--الأهواز | Hamid | Ahwaz 23:36, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 12:23, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Congress Template
Hey, nice template. I made a few changes, of course let's discuss them on its talk page if you have any comments. Also, shouldn't the subproject on the WIkiproject be restored now? Thanks, --Gabbec 11:57, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, I started creating stubs for all the congress members, but I have to leave now, so if you want to go on, feel free to do so. Amazonas-Ica are done, but it's still a lot of work, so don't expect to finish soon. I'll be back later to do whatever I can. Take care, --Gabbec 14:43, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and this is good to break it down by electoral district. Just in case. --Gabbec 14:44, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, that doesn't work at all. You can go here, then go to Avance por Distrito Electoral, under Congresales. Hope that helps, --Gabbec 01:35, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, I'm going to start with those remaining from Lima, if that's OK with you, you can work on the other regions if you want.--Gabbec 01:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] thx
Thanks, I realize it was unnecessary now, hopefully my new article is more to your satisfaction: John Wayne Gacy Jr. (song)
[edit] Perez Roque
Will try to put some work in to that page Jersey. At present the whole Cuban area is in a bit of a mess. I tried to warn admins a few days ago to semi-protect Fidel Castro - to no avail. Rules are rules apparently. Now the page claims he has been diagnosed by with colon cancer - sourced to George Galloway and has been fully protected in that state! I've given up the ghost on that front for a while.--Zleitzen 03:01, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Problem-Reaction-Solution
Greetings, Mr. Devil. Thanks for leaving a comment on my talk page. I'm saying this to you since you were kind enough to leave me a comment, and I'm not sure where else to air my opinion on this. Anyway, regarding the recent deletion of Problem-Reaction-Solution, I think it's some BS. The last time it came up for deletion (disreguarding the newb votes) the votes were approximately 2 to 1 keep, and the admin closed it with "no consensus." It seems clear to me that it was railroaded out of the 'pedia by anti-conspiracy deletionist people. I don't know what else I have to say, I just think this is bogus. It is a real phenomenon that people discuss. To not be able to link to it in wikipedia kinda sucks, IMO. There will be a P-R-S page one day, regardless of how uncomfortable it makes some editors feel. Anyway, sorry to bother you. Thank you for your time, and have a great day! :) Edogy 15:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, cruft should be killed. Was wondering if you could look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of songs deemed inappropriate by Clear Channel following the September 11, 2001 attacks, and evaluate whether LGagnon is using Mispeled and DejahThoris as voting socks -- I recognize DejahThoris, who seems to reappear when LGagnon needs support on the List of songs deemed inappropriate by Clear Channel following the September 11, 2001 attacks article. [edit] CDR Propaganda
Hi. I'll photoshop the image so that it only shows the CDR's billboard, that's fine. But note that in the end we are trying to create value on these pages, and removing a photograph of Cuban socialist propaganda removed value from three different pages. In a joke pose I am not identified, so it's hardly self-promotion, and when you look at all that I have contributed I think you'd realize that is not my aim. You didn't have the decency to leave me a message, and I think most editors would not find that photograph one of self-promotion, and would find it valuable for inclusion regardless of the inclusion of an unclear person. A jerky thing to do; regardless, I'll edit the image--just for you! --DavidShankBone 04:35, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- I'll make sure there is no trace of me in photos--I thought in that photo I wasn't particularly clear, and unfortunately in a late-night stupor I put my photography credit in the captions. This was before I knew Wikipedia's policy (and I agree with it). There are still some out there, I think (though I removed most of them). Thank you for the message. Could you give me feedback when you have a moment on the first article I created, Tompkins Square Park Police Riot. I want to make sure I don't repeat any mistakes in future planned articles Second Avenue Marble Cemetary and St. Brigid's, a 103-year-old historic church that allowed protesters to organize in Tompkins Square Park during the riot, which is now being demolished to make way for condos. Much appreciated! --DavidShankBone 12:01, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] project
JD, since you have an interest in the 9/11 Truth Movement articles, why dont you join Wikipedia:WikiProject 9/11 Truth Movement? You could help to make sure eveything keeps as it should. --Striver 12:32, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dear Jersey,
You've accused me of linkspam|spamdex, & deleted where I've posted < http://worldlinktv.org >.
Please, how do you justify that?
Do you ever read anything that you reference?
Please read this:
"Spamdexing refers exclusively to practices that are dishonest and mislead search and indexing programs to give a page a ranking it does not deserve. 'White hat' techniques for making a website indexable by search engines,..."
So, what is your [fantasy] evidence?
I get no cash from them. I have no personal relationship there. I've never been within a hundred miles of their offices.
I do want people to know about their various websites. Period.
That's it. Please negotiate a revert.
Thank You.

[edit] NYT article on Ota
Thanks for brining that New York Times article to my attention! I just added the article for the show yesterday, and I had no idea it had created so much of a buzz to be featured in the Times! Fascinating. freshofftheufoΓΛĿЌ 18:22, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism issue
Hi! I used "rvv" intentionally, because in my opinion needless changing of spelling to promote British or American variants is vandalism; I consider it a change to content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of the encyclopedia, to use the same words. It's by no means a useful edit. Daniel Šebesta (talk • contribs) 22:10, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reformed Peruvian President's Template
Take a look: Template:Presidents of Peru. It now includes all of them. I'll waiting for your answer. Cheers! Messhermit 00:37, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Since the topic has not being touch for quite a long time, do you believe that it would be appropiate for me to replace the old template for the new one that I just created? Messhermit 16:09, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Eduardo Galeano
Hi JD! I'm affraid I won't be of much help finding a picture of Galeano. Perhaps a book inner cover might contain a picture than can comply with the fair use, but I doubt it. What's worse, I'm not currently in my cozy Argentina, where I have my copy of the Veins. Pictures more than 25 years old are copyright free (at least in Argentina), what means that I might find a magazine or book with a picture of him. But again, I'm not going home for months... [edit] RfA thanks
Thank you very much for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully today with a result of (62/18/3). I will go very carefully at first, trying to make sure I don't mess up too badly using the tools, and will begin by re-reading all the high-quality feedback I received during the process, not least from those who opposed me. Any further advice/guidance will be gratefully accepted. I hope I will live up to your trust! Guinnog 14:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)} |
[edit] talk pages for non-existant articles
I've asked on about 7 pages about the policy for talk pages for non existant articles. Everyone has said go ahead and do it. I was sure someone would object but no one did :) Where can I go to discuss it? What page would be the right page to discuss that policy? I create those articles at work, I don't have the option of devoting enough time to wikipedia to create articles there. The request process as it exists currently is a mess. I used to use it a great deal, but it's one of the least useful parts of wikipedia. I'm happy to do anything but use the requested articles process. How about stubs? What's your opinion on those? Mathiastck 13:36, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Looking at WP:CSD_G8 it says "Talk pages of pages that do not exist, unless they contain deletion discussion that isn't logged elsewhere or notes that would help in creating an article. User_talk pages are exempt from this. Subpages (including archive pages) are only deletable under this rule if the corresponding top-level page does not exist." I believe I have left a very helpful link on every talk page I have created (when the article did not exist). Mathiastck 18:36, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Martha Chávez
Things seem to be heating up at Martha Chávez. Truth be told, they are getting much more hot that I would have wished. I mention this because I know that you know a great deal about modern Peruvian politics, and may wish to weigh in. --Descendall 03:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Here is my explanation: Descendall is trying to push a "POV"; that is, making the article of "Martha Chavez" a hot spot of "anti-fujimorismo" in Wikipedia. So far he has only added information that would "guide" the reader to "assume" that everything she did was bad. That is the main problem here. If he is going to work in the article of Chavez, then he should at least balance what he write with something positive, in order to achieve POV. I could go around and fill tons of articles with bad stuff, and I don believe that my work will be considerate "NPOV" or "Fair". Cheers! and I hope that all this mess can be solve quickly.
