[edit] Third opinion process

Hi. To resolve the dispute regarding Dallas Green I have requested a third party opinion, which should hopefully settle this debate in a civilised manner.

Alright then, cool; jerkmonkee 04:07, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Machina II cover

Hey there. You uploaded Image:SmashingPumpkins-MachinaII.jpg a long while back. The other day, someone came along and uploaded a new version, and is now using it on the Maachina II article. Do you think it is a good replacement? If so, I would ask that you list your image at WP:IFD as it is obsolete. Thanks. -- Reaper X 04:10, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Resolved Issues

[edit] Rude edit summaries and unthoughtful comments

"Same shit" and "if you remove it, i will jump you."

I think it would be a good idea for you to think through your comments before you make them. Threatening any sort of violence is a reasonable ground for an instant block. If you make any offensive comments again, I shall report you to an adminstrator.--Seraphim Whipp 21:59, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings; i understand you are upset that I challenge your perceived authority. First off, Wikipedia is not sensored (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not), and second I obviously have no intentions to jump anyone, I meant it in good fun and jokingly so you can stop hiding under your desk now and stop your crying if you really feel threatened.
love jerkmonkee 04:32, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
1.) I did not state that I had any authority. Everyone on wikipedia is equal. Adminstrators have access to tools which are used to improve wikipedia at a more sufficient rate, but they are still equal to every other user on wikipedia.
2.) I have no objection to swearing. I believe you missed my point entirely. The intention of informing that your edit summary was rude was not because the use of a swear word being offensive, it was the fact that you had insulted the editors who had worked on the article so far.
3.) Ironic remarks do not translate well across the internet. Clearly you aren't going to attack anyone (then again, I cannot be entirely sure), but to threaten someone/anyone with violence is unacceptable.
--Seraphim Whipp 23:41, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not censored, it is however civil and I agree with the comments about certain edits and edit summaries of yours. Please be nice. Thanks. -- zzuuzz(talk) 20:42, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Civility

With regards to your comments on Talk:City and Colour: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Metros232 20:12, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Haha.. I havn't seen that stay cool page, thanks.. I'll try to remember the cucumber next time i decide to post..

[edit] Dual Cover Album infobox

I've noticed that you created the Dual Cover Album infobox. The issue of handling multiple album covers in one infobox was recently discussed at WikiProject Albums (see the discussion). I think we figured out a more elegant and flexible way of dealing with it using Extra album cover template. Here are some examples. What do you think? Jogers (talk) 23:18, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

So, what about converting the infoboxes using the Dual Cover Album infobox template and then redirecting it to the Album infobox? Jogers (talk) 10:40, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Why have you reverted my conversions to standard album infobox template? I thought you said you would be satisfied conforming to a standard. The template you created seems to be obsolete now. Jogers (talk) 21:23, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

You also reverted some of my other edits at Alexisonfire (album). See WikiProject Albums for a guideline on album articles formatting. Jogers (talk) 21:27, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
I am satisfied conforming to a standard, but there has been no satisfactory consensus for such a standard. I do not consider my template obsolete for the reason that i would like it to become a candidate for a new standard. If there is to be a standard i think that it should be decided by more than just you, and for that reason i started the new subject to get more input from the community; well there hasn't been too much discussion and for that reason i don't consider album_infobox to be the standard in this area, or mine either for that matter. I have for the most part halted the modification of albums using my info_box, but for those i have i do like, and until there has been a true consensus, i would like to maintain these articles the way they are..

with respect, jerkmonkee 01:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Aiden - Kerrang Cover.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Aiden - Kerrang Cover.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 23:00, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you re-added Image:Aiden - Kerrang Cover.jpg to the article Aiden with the summary "reinserted kerrang magazine cover - it is relavent as it depicts the band's growing popularity, and it is perfectly acceptable as it is backed with a fair use rationelle.". No specific fair use rationale has been provided on the image description page, however. Please note that the {{magazinecover}} only covers the fair use of imagesused in critical commentary about the magazine itself. As it is used in the article runs afoul of fair use counterexample #7. If you have any questions about this policy or its application in this case, please do not hesitate to poste a question to Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Regards. ×Meegs 14:48, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dicovering_the_waterfront_cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dicovering_the_waterfront_cover.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy). The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.

For some reason i forgot to add that information.. added it now though.. jerkmonkee 19:30, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Evel Knievel - Profile.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Evel Knievel - Profile.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. feydey 23:01, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Replaced Picture with one with valid tag and source.. jerkmonkee 23:23, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Please add a detailed fair use rationale as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the image, the photographer, and copyright information. Do not simply upload a new photo with no source info and destroy the nsd -tag. feydey 23:59, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
I added source information, along with copyright information. I admit i do not have thephotographer but that is not deemed necissairy by the fair use rationale as described o Wikipedia:Image description page. To satisfy you though, I will comply with the Fair use rationale procedures and make a statement on the image's page. jerkmonkee 00:10, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Smile in Your Sleep

I see that you worked on Smile in Your Sleep. Wikipedia cannot accept many forms of copyrighted contents - this includes most song lyrics (except portions, per Wikipedia:Fair use). In the future mark these as copyvio or remove them from the article. Thanks! Dan, the CowMan 07:57, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Joel Carriere

Joel Carriere has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this person might not be notable enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:Notability (people) for the relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" template, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but if an editor is still not satisfied that it meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk. Also, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 06:55, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:White Stripes - Early Career.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:White Stripes - Early Career.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 20:40, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Switcheroo_-_Cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Switcheroo_-_Cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:City and Colour - Logo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:City and Colour - Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
