The Forschungsinstitut für Musiktheater (FIMT) is a research institute for Opera Studies and Music Theater Studies in general. It is settled in the Thurnau Castle, Thurnau, in the near of Bayreuth, Bavaria. The Head of the institute is also Head of the Faculty for Theater Studies of the University of Bayreuth, the staff of the FIMT gives lectures in Music Theater Studies and in other degrees at of the University, e.g. Music Studies, Theater Studies and Media Studies. Beneath that the FIMT offers degrees in BA "Musiktheaterwissenschaft" as well as in MA and PhD "Musik und Performance".
