Jerome Bernard (Jérôme Sébastien Bernard) is born in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 5th 1974.

After completing a Scientific Baccalaureate in the College de Candolle in Geneva in 1994, Jerome spent 4 months in the Swiss Military (in the "Rescue Forces" troups), which is a mandatory requirement in Switzerland.

He then left for San Diego (California) for 6 months in order to improve his English, as well as to train for road cycling racing, which he had been doing for about 3 years. Back in Europe in 1995, Jerome quickly won for the second time the regional road cycling championship (after 1993) and proved promising national results, which qualified him to race in the Elite semi-professional category, considered as the anti-chamber of professional cycling.

During this time and for the next 2 years, Jerome raced against some of the World's best current road professional cyclists, such as Andreas Klöden (2 podiums in the Tour de France's final classification: 2nd in 2004 and 3rd in 2006), Jens Voigt (Tour de France stages winner) and Alexander Vinokourov (2nd overall in the 2003 Tour de France).

Jerome stopped racing in 1997 in order to pursue his international University studies. In 2001, he graduated from the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) in Switzerland, a business school focused on hotel management, and the first World's Hotel School founded back in 1893. He completed at EHL a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management. During his EHL years, Jerome also experienced a fruitful internship in a first-class hotel in San Francisco (California) during 6 months.

Before completing his Bachelor's degree in June 2001, Jerome was already offered a job offer from Cargill International SA in Geneva, and started in July of that year as a Junior Trader and Operation's Assistant Manager in the Power & Gas industry that had started its liberalization a couple of years earlier.

Since his first 6 months stay in California, Jerome has enjoyed travelling and discovering new cultures and countries, and has been travelling in Australia, Brazil, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Thailand, Turkey, as well as thru 18 States of the U.S. and thru most western European countries.

In fall 2004, Jerome was temporarily transferred and expatriated to London (UK), as an Operations Manager and Interconnector Trader. During spring 2006, Jerome was repatriated to Geneva, Switzerland, as Head of Power & Gas Operations Europe and Interconnector Trader.

In spring 2007, Jerome completed a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) in IFM University (Institut de Finance et Management) in Geneva, while continuing working full time at Cargill International SA. Completion of these studies had been delayed of 18 months, as they were put on hold during Jerome's temporary transfer in London.
