The love story in the novel and movie Alchemy makes many references to the relationship between Makeda and King Solomon in the various traditions (including the Kebra Negast, which La Some became aware of via Morgan Said).
[edit] Character symbolism
Wulf is Solomon, a kabbalist and alchemist, son of a great warrior, dedicated to peace (Solomon means Peace). Maddie is Makeda, a powerful, willful, devastatingly intelligent woman. Seven is the temple, and Solomon's God, the personal idol which drives them apart.
Maddie struggles for Wulf's attentions with Seven, and eventually is reconciled by accepting her (Makeda "converted") and taking away the "temple" to her own kingdom, giving birth to the Peace that Solomon has sought to engender, while Solomon's own kingdom is brought low (after his death).
Note 666 talents of gold. Ethiopian Emperor became known as "Prester John" (after a much older legend) around the 14th century.
