[edit] "Jerry's signature

Some people are interested in famous persons signature —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.211.147.82 (talk) 04:08, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "He is a lefty" removed

A commented out "he is a lefty" in the early life section. Is this a political claim? Or is this vandalism? Sounds like the latter to me --82.153.98.248 (talk) 21:27, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

The character Jerry Seinfeld from the sitcom Seinfeld was mentioned to be left handed in the episode The Implant. 65.175.254.68 (talk) 05:24, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 18 year old girlfriend

does anyone have any information on jerry's girlfriend, who was 18 at the time of the beginning of their relationship?? any relevance there? --Joelibyan

I heard 17, but I don't know anything more than that. --Kalmia 21:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dead link

The third trivia item, about Jerry being ranked the 17th most unsexy celebrity, has a link to msnbc which is no longer valid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cjwright79 (talkcontribs)

[edit] Inquiry

Jerry Seinfeld is currently touring North America (spring, summer 2005). Does anyone know the content of this show (is it the "I'm telling you for the last Time" show, or completely new material?) Moreover, does anyone have a link to a description or review of this show? It seems to me like this is the least publicized tour ever! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.86.141.143 (talkcontribs)

It's different material. There's an hour and a half long set from 2005 being traded online. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.185.151.122 (talk • contribs)

[edit] Date of Birth

Another website lists Jerry's date of birth as 4/29/1954. Perhaps the more correct of the two dates can be validated??? See: http://www.eonline.com/Facts/People/Bio/0,128,14179,00.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacific1982 (talkcontribs)

I notice that the war between April 29 and April 24 has continued. To try to resolve the debate, I did some Googling and found that the April 29 date is mentioned far more often. I then did a "search inside" on Amazon of the book Seinfeld: The Making of an American Icon by Jerry Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer not only states that Seinfeld was born April 29, he also makes other references to the date that suggest assurance about it. If anyone has reliable evidence to back up April 24, please provide it. Candy (talk) 05:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removed sentence

I removed this sentence: "On November 15, 2004 Jerry appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman to promote the Seinfeld DVD sets." Seinfeld must have made dozens, of talk show appearances. I fail to see why this one in particular deserves mention. -R. fiend 23:06, 22 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Yiddish transliteration

Why does the name "Seinfeld" appear in Yiddish transliteration in the first sentence? It's not Jerry's native language, nor does he perform or write in it. What's the justification for including it? --Metropolitan90 16:26, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

I agree, it is senseless to have that in the article. MicahMN | Talk 17:33, 11 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Picture

That is definitely a picture of Chewbacca. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.52.210.128 (talk • contribs) Whoever added the new pic, good job. Much nicer.

[edit] "Jewish American"

I dispute that we need a first-sentence identifier of Seinfeld as a "Jewish American." I understand completely that his comedy springs from the Jewish tradition in America and that it's relevant that he is Jewish. But I dispute that the fact that he was raised Jewish is necessary as a first-sentence qualifier to "American." Other Wikipedia articles on people who happen to be Jewish don't contain such qualifiers, generally, and the first sentence is the place only for the most general of information. Seinfeld does not refer to being Jewish all that often in his comedy (though of course it's hardly a secret), and I really fail to see why his religion is relevant enough to put in the first sentence. The first paragraph, sure, but not the introductory sentence. Moncrief 00:28, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

That's fair enough. I still mildly disagree on the relevance issue, but not nearly enough to contest the point RMoloney 00:37, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] No mention of his books?

I think it should be mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.50.216.82 (talk • contribs)

Then add it, thats what Wikipedia is for! Sfgiants222 03:16, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Just added information on his books, although someone might want to provide more detail than what I could provide. I should note that my entry on Ed Broth, which is a possible penname of Seinfeld's, is for some reason up for deletion.--Ataricodfish 21:02, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiquotes

Could someone fix up the wikiquote link so that instead of being in "External Links", it's in that box on the side? The Zaniak 00:53, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Too short?

This article seems short compared to other wikipedia articles about less important people. 69.22.42.35 04:39, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] His mother?

I couldn't understand from the article is his mother Syrian or Welsh! Could someone clarify that part a bit? --Arny 15:39, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vegetarian ?

Hello ! Seinfeld is listed on List of vegetarians but is there's nothing in his bio about this. Is he or not veg ? Rdavout 20:43, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bush?

Did Seinfeld really support Bush in the 2000 election? Can anyone provide a citation for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwclark (talkcontribs)

I have found solid evidence that, while Seinfeld may have donated money to George Bush in the primary campaign, he almost certainly did NOT support Bush in 2000. See "Back to the October 26 Entertainment Tonight, an exasperated actor/comedian Jerry Seinfeld told ET in a setting which looked like he was standing in a crowd outside the Hillary event: "I don’t understand why this election is close. I don’t know anybody that wants to go back to the way things were eight years ago -- unless you’re under eight-years-old and you don’t remember what things were like in 1992." from http://www.mrc.org/cyberalerts/2000/cyb20001027.asp#3 and http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Jerry_Seinfeld.php http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2000/10/25_web.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwclark (talkcontribs)

[edit] Who removed my edit?

I wrote that Jerry Seinfeld converted to Scientology. It is true. See it for yourself: http://www.nndb.com/event/172/000086911/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.80.221.229 (talk • contribs)

Why should we believe this nndb site? Who are they? They list absolutely no sources. A google search for Seinfeld and scientology turns up only speculation. There is no hard evidence that he actually converted. In fact, the results actually turn up sources where Seinfeld has critisized scientology, not converted.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.105.143.149 (talk • contribs)
Well, why should we believe you? Your sources are just as bad. For example, you or someone listed IMDB.com as a source. But http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000632/bio itself does not give any reference at all. Also, is there any prove that he actually went to Birch Lane Elementary School or her mother is a Syrian? If you are going to rely on google searches and fan sites, then my original assertment is also a valid statement. There are plenty of web sites that mention Jerry Seinfeld and his interest in Scientology. E.g. http://www.adherents.com/people/ps/Jerry_Seinfeld.html and http://www.apologeticsindex.org/s04a11.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.80.221.229 (talk • contribs)

[edit] It's "pedophilia"

If you're going to get in an edit war over it, at least learn to spell it correctly in the edit summaries. —Chowbok 19:44, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Why should I learn to spell something I don't like? I'm too busy reverting vandals to learn to sepll and tipe proper neway. ;-) —B33R TalkContribs 19:53, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

You are ridiculously stupid, Chowbok. I can't believe you criticised the other guy for spelling it incorrectly but also said that it's spelt "pedophilia". Shouldn't you find it in a dictionary before you write it in an encyclopaedia? You are completely wrong. It's "paedophilia". If you wanted to write about it on the discussion page, you should have said how the other guy spelt it. Huey45 22:56, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] extra photograph

maybe someone can add a photograph from his TV sitcom?? He's best wellknown for that RyanRP 22:41, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pulp Fiction

I removed the statement: "Also appearing as an uncredited character in Pulp Fiction[[1]] " because Seinfeld was never in Pulp Fiction. The actor (now actress) you are referring to, Alexis Arquette, however did look like him in the movie. — oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ 13:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Let me also add that the citation (movie review) does not say that Seinfeld was in Pulp Fiction. Allow this quotation from the review settle the issue.
"A black hitman and a white hitman murder three Causcasian burger-eating adolescents living in a cheesy la-apartment (one of whom bears a frightening resemblance to an uncredited Jerry Seinfeld (believe it or not)."
Note the use of the phrase "frightening resemblance" indicating that this was not Jerry Seinfeld but someone who looked like him. Again the actor/actress was Alexis Arquette who was credited to the character in question. The information that Jerry Seinfeld was in Pulp Fiction is simply incorrect and will be removed. — oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ 03:17, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Throttle cock?

The term "throttle cock" has been inserted in this biography numerous times. I do not have the correct information to make the necessary changes, but if someone does it would be great for them to edit the article when they have the chance. While "throttle cock" is undoubtedly a humorous term, it has little to do with Seinfeld, and worse it has indeed been inserted in instances where it does not make grammatical sense. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.255.101.26 (talk) 04:27, 3 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Scientology

Jerry Seinfeld's listed as a "former scientologist" here on Wikipedia. I was just wondering if there's any validity to this claim which would be worth mentioning in the article or if it's an unconfirmed rumour of some sort? 64.231.189.221 22:38, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't see anything substantiating the claim so I've removed the category. If there *is* evidence and I've missed it, please feel free to revert! --ElKevbo 22:59, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Jerry Seinfeld is quoted as saying he took some Scientology courses 30 years ago and that it helped his performing abilities [2] . I think it is possible to believe in some tenants of a belief system without actually being a member of the organization, though. Is this enough to be worthy of a mention in the article, though? --Gallup 18:31, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
In the chapter "The Dianetics Kid" in the book Seinfeld: The Making of an American Icon, Jerry Oppenheimer discusses Seinfeld's involvement with Scientology. According to his research (primarily interviews with people who knew Seinfeld at the time), Seinfeld was quite into it for a while. See Oppenheimer, Jerry (2002). "Chapter 19 The Dianetics Kid", Seinfeld The Making of an American Icon. HarperCollins, 113. ISBN 0-06-018872-3. . Candy 13:17, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] VANDALISM

This article has been vandalised and therefore must be protected ASAP. Someone used this article to glorify themself, saying such things as "bert is god". Huey45 22:58, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seinfeld voulenteering in a Kibbutz in the 1970s

Even though I clearly remember that there were a lot of articles in the past (in particular in the late 1990s, at the peak of the sucsses of "Seinfeld") on Jerry's short volunteering days on Kibbutz Sa'ar in Israel, when I tried today to search for good relaible sources to back this fact up I did not find any good enough articles from the recent years - only bits and pieces of information hinting on it from the recent years. Eventually I was compelled to back this fact up with an old article from 1998 which is not accsesible anyomore nowadays from about.com - it could only be seen with the help of Wayback Machine website. I will be glad if anyone manages to find any better sources to back up this "historical" fact. Acidburn24m 19:01, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scientology Involvement

According to Wikipedia's article, List of Scientologists, Jerry Seinfeld is listed as a former Scientologist with the phrase "Took a couple courses a number of years ago" and on a list on a website lists Jerry Seinfeld's status with Scientology with unknown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikister (talkcontribs)

[edit] "Born to racist parents"?

What the... oh, I get it, because his parents are Jewish. Come on editors. If this page is locked, please fix this sophomoric anti-semitic nonsense ASAP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shazam88 (talk • contribs)

This page vandalism was removed in under 20 minutes. --h2g2bob (talk) 20:56, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Does Jerry Seinfeld actually read Superman comics?

I've found plenty of information about Jerry Seinfeld being a Superman fan and there are lots of references in the show about it, but does Jerry Seinfeld in real life actually read the Superman comics? I read 'em loyally for several years, but eventually gave up, both due to a loss of interest and time. I'm just wondering if Seinfeld is truly a Superman fan in that he reads the current comics, or one of those fakers who call themselves "fans" even though they haven't touched the comics in years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.254.112.10 (talk) 17:12, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You got to add the Larry King interview

Its even on yahoo that exact part, where Larry king doesnt know that Jerry finished the show not that he was canceled. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.94.30 (talk) 22:01, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I just created a heading from the text of the above comment, since it has nothing to do with Superman comics. (Personally, I don't think the King interview merits inclusion, because it's not particularly noteworthy except in a slow-news-day way.) Candy 01:39, 5 November 2007 (UTC

Its been done in a really unrepresentative way, too. The way its in the article it makes it look like Jerry had a really big egomaniacal outburst, it was actually kind of joking, just making fun of how redundant a question it was at Larry King's expense really. 130.88.185.77 23:35, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Of course it was a joke. I think this section should be removed. It's a non-incident. It was a joke.

Agreed. Candy (talk) 10:39, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thai sticks - Jerry a drug dealer?

Where is the reference for such a claim? It may be true. It may also be libelous (if not true). This should either be verified or deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gregpalmerx (talkcontribs) 09:34, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Los Angeles is very unfunny"

[This part of the section was deleted.]

Err, either way, we'll need more than an "I found it on the net somewhere" if or when it does become part of the article. - Dudesleeper Talk 10:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Jerry Seinfeld made this statement to Rolling Stone magazine on September 22, 1994, and Jerry's views of having New York City to be more desirable for him (versus less desirable Los Angeles) is not emphasized enough in the Wiki article. [3]

[edit] Timeline-esque

I reverted the anonymous editor who removed large chunks of the article without explanatation. I checked the other two edits of theirs, and one of them was blatant vandalism; however, I can see why they removed the sections they did: the article reads like a timeline at present and could do with some trimming. - Dudesleeper / Talk 03:22, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1967 Fiat BTM?

There is no such vehicle as a Fiat BTM. I've done a bit of research, but every auto website is as stumped by this description as I am. Is there a photo of the car in question? Marshall Stax (talk) 21:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Really, what is up with that? --anon. 68.161.211.116 (talk) 02:50, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
One Tarek carlover changed the model of Fiat back to BTM, obviously without bothering to read the source I included as a reference. (This is the only contribution this Tarek carlover has made to Wikipedia.) I'm changing it back.
By the way, a Jalopnik commenter wrote that BTM is an abbreviation for Body / Type / Model (in this case, two-door / sedan [as far as the Department of Motor Vehicles of the State of New York is concerned, coupes are sedans] / 500) and apparently, the AP reporter saw this on the police report and mistook it for the model of the car. --anon. (same as above) 141.157.193.111 (talk) 16:56, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, come to think of it, since the AP story cites The New York Post, the error must be the Post reporter's. --anon. (same as above) 68.161.201.235 (talk) 22:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
I just looked at the police report (which I downloaded here, via the wheels.blogs.nytimes.com reference I just added to the article) and there isn't a BTM to be found anywhere.
(Note that report gives his first name as Jerry, not Jerome.) --anon. (same as above) 141.149.55.63 (talk) 05:13, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
