Talk:Jeremy Gatdula
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is to state that the entry for Jeremy Gatdula should not be deleted.
Mr. Gatdula is a prominent international trade lawyer in the Philippines, a country whereby such specialization is rare. Though much younger and more junior in stature than Florentino Feliciano (retired Judge of the WTO Appellate Body), Mr. Gatdula is nevertheless recognized as the foremost legal voice, through numerous writings and lectures, in spreading knowledge in the Philippines about the various complex issues and intricacies relating to the World Trade Organization and ASEAN.
More importantly, it is his work in removing discussions relating to trade from the narrow free trade/protectionism paradigm, as well as his continuing effort in having a working synthesis between government and the private sector (a contentious issue in the Philippines), that has made a subtle but substantial impact on how trade policy in the Philippines is conducted.
He has advised the Philippine government on trade matters, recently giving talks to the Philippine Congress on trade related legislation for the coming year and speaking before members of the Philippine Supreme Court on issues relating to law and economics.
This entry is not made for advertising. Any reference that could be construed as such has been deleted.
The entry is, however, of value as it could instruct law students of the Philippines, members of the Philippine legal profession, and Philippine business, as to the path or illustration of how a specialization in such a technical legal field could be done in a third world country such as the Philippines.
If there are any other matters that the administrators want to add or revise to retain this entry, we would be happy to make such revisions.--elbe
Take a look at Verifiability -- in essence, every fact in the article needs to be attributed to someone else. If you can find published biographies of him that would be usefu. John Vandenberg 02:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
published biographies are found here, which were listed as footnotes or sources in the entry:

- Blogs are rarely acceptable, as they are self-published. Facts should be attributed to reliable sources. John Vandenberg 06:21, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
we agree, apologies. we only mentioned the blog as it indicates there the original publications in which the articles or lectures appeared. in any event, a lot of the writings (the publication in which they appeared and the dates thereof) are mentioned in the entry.--elbe
- Please note the following entries that appeared in two national newspapers in the Philippines, the Philippine Star (http://www.philstar.com/index.php?Business%20As%20Usual&p=49&type=2&sec=39), which contained a profile of the subject and has most of the informtion contained in this entry, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer (http://business.inquirer.net/money/features/view_article.php?article_id=78163). With the foregoing, it is hoped that the entry be no longer considered an autobiography and instead a proper bio entry for Wiki.
