[edit] History

In 1919, company founder Jervis B. Webb adapted a forged rivetless chain used in the mining business to the rugged needs of the automotive industry. Henry Ford quickly recognized the possibilities that existed with this innovative technology and installed 30 miles of Webb conveyor systems in his plants around the country. This single product helped revolutionize mass production. In fact, Webb’s conveyors are featured in the Diego Rivera mural that covers the walls at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

"Automatic Guided Vehicles" - Automatic Guided Vehicles or Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are mobile robots used in industrial applications to move materials around manufacturing facilities and warehouses. "Baggage Handling Systems" - A Baggage Handling System (BHS) is a type of conveyor system installed in airports that transports checked luggage from ticket counters through security screening machines to areas where the bags can be loaded onto airplanes. A BHS also transports checked baggage coming off of airplanes to baggage claims or to an area where the bag can be loaded onto another airplane. "Conveyors" – Conveyor systems move materials from one location to another along a fixed path. Different types of conveyors have been developed for specific applications such as moving light or heavy loads, moving products through the paint process and moving materials down an assembly line.

"Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems" - Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (often referred to as AS/RS) refers to a variety of computer-controlled methods for automatically depositing and retrieving loads from defined storage locations.
