Jerry R. Ehman

Jerry R. Ehman is an American astronomer. He is the first scientist to detect the strong narrowband radio signal known as Wow! signal on August 15, 1977 while working on a SETI project at the Big Ear radio telescope of Ohio State University.

Ehman has a Ph.D. degree in astronomy from the University of Michigan where he specialized in radio astronomy. He taught electrical engineering at the Ohio State University while working on the Big Ear project.[1]
