Jerry Lawson (Jerome E. Lawson) born January 23, 1944 in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Lawson was raised in Apopka, Florida. Lawson was the lead singer, arranger & producer of the a cappella group The Persuasions for 40 years. He left the group in 2003 & began working with developmentally disabled adults in Phoenix, Arizona while also working with jazz quartets & R&B bands.

While planning to travel to Moscow for a recording session, Lawson met four vocalists who had been singing a cappella for 35 years in the San Francisco area. Inspired by Lawson's work with the Persuasions, they and he joined to form the group Talk of the Town. Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town plan to release their debut CD in 2007. The album was produced by Jerry & Julie Hurwitz Lawson.
