Jerome Edward Listecki (born March 12, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois) is a Roman Catholic bishop currently of the Diocese of La Crosse, in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

He was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood on May 14, 1975 for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Bishop Listecki graduated from the Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago in 1967, attended Niles College Seminary (working in the US Steel mills, in a blast furnace centering plant, during five of his college-age summers),[1] and did his theological studies at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois. After studies in canon law and moral theology in Rome, he earned a licentiate and doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum). He previously earned a law degree from DePaul University,[2] thus making him the holder of degrees utriusque juris as Doctor of Canon and Civil Law. He is also a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserves.

On November 7, 2000, he was appointed auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago by Pope John Paul II; he was ordained a bishop on January 8, 2001. On December 29, 2004, Bishop Listecki was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse, succeeding Bishop Raymond Leo Burke, who became archbishop of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Missouri in St. Louis, Missouri.[3][4] On March 1, 2005, Bishop Listecki was installed as Bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse. [5] [6]

In 2004 it was revealed that Bishop Listecki had earlier purchased a vacation condominium with friends, one of whom was Dr. Dennis Composto, who plead guilty in 2006 of stealing money from the Archdiocese of Chicago. The Archdiocese of Chicago issued statements in 2004 and 2006 that Bishop Listecki had cooperated fully with the investigation, and was cleared of any wrongdoing.[7][8] Composto died early in 2007.
