Jeroen Paul Thesseling
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jeroen Paul Thesseling is a Dutch bass player. Thesseling started to study bass guitar in 1988 at the Conservatory Enschede, the Netherlands. He collaborated with Pestilence in 1992 and 1993 by recording the jazz/ fusion-influenced album Spheres and touring Europe. He began studying microtonality in 1995 and developed a 72-tone equal temperament bass in 1999. A few years later Jeroen decided to concentrate primarily on fretless bass guitar as his focus was on experimental world music. In 2003 he joined the ensemble of the Dutch flamenco guitarist 'El Periquin', and has been touring with them for two years. From 2005 Jeroen participated in the recording sessions of Ensemble Salazhar, a contemporary world music oriented project. Late 2007 he joined the German death metal band Obscura. Thesseling is one of the very few bassists in the metal scene playing fretless bass.
