He started out in the acting business when his mother sent him to go audition for the role of Thomas "Sams" Sams in the 1989 film Lean on Me. He then went to work on the film Juice as Steel, along with Omar Epps, Tupac Shakur and Khalil Kain. In 1996, he again starred alongside Tupac Shakur in Bullet.
