Jeremy Wafer

Jeremy Wafer (b. 1953) is a South African sculptor and printmaker.[1]

Born in Durban, Wafer grew up on a farm before earning his undergraduate degree in fine arts from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg in 1979; in 1987 he received a master's degree in fine arts from the University of Witwatersrand. He was at one time head of the Department of Fine Arts at the Natal Technikon. Currently he resides in Johannesburg and heads the Department of Fine Art at the Witwatersrand Technikon.

He co-designed the "Wall of Hope" AIDS monument (with Georgia Sarkin), dedicated to the memory of Gugu Dlamini, in Durban, South Africa.[2]

His work is held in the National Museum of African Art of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.[3]
