Jeremy Talfer Nell (born March 16, 1979) is a cartoonist, and creator of the (now retired)[1][2] [3]Urban Trash comic strip, and the Ditwits comic strip, both of which are published daily across South Africa. Urban Trash is also published in parts of Namibia, as well as in parts of England, while Ditwits features exclusively on the front page of one of South Africa's largest[4][5]national daily newspapers, The Times.

Additionally, Nell has established himself in the South African blogging community, as a satirical writer.[6][7]

[edit] Personal life

Nell was born in Cape Town, South Africa.

After moving between incomplete courses at the University of Cape Town (in a Bachelor of Fine Arts) and AAA School Of Advertising (in Art Direction and Graphic Design), Nell found a "cubicle job" at a mobile entertainment multinational at the beginning of 2003, where, nearly three years later, he was - for a short period - unofficially promoted to Creative Director. As a result of his opposition towards dealing with pornographic content, Nell sought legal advice and found himself amid a near-litigation battle with management, before opting to offer up his position for voluntary retrenchment in late 2005.

[edit] Career

Having already created Urban Trash during March 2005, Nell decided to become a fulltime cartoonist in early November 2005, using Urban Trash as the platform.

[edit] Publishing

There are no published Urban Trash books.
