Jeremy Greenwood

Jeremy John Denis Greenwood CBE is a British ornithologist and has been Director of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) since 1981. He is due to retire from that post in September 2007[1].

Greenwood was educated at Royal Grammar School Worcester and St Catherine's College, Oxford. He was responsible for publishing the two largest surveys on British bird populations. Besides being director of the BTO he is president of the European Ornithologists Union. He is also an honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham's Centre for Ornithology.

Since 20o0, he has been a trustee of The British Birds Charitable Trust, which publishes British Birds magazine[2]

He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours.
