[edit] History
Jeremiah Surd is portrayed as a terrorist operating within the United States in the 1970s. Trained in biology and electronics, he threatens to expose Washington to nerve gas in 1978. Race Bannon leads the team that strikes Surd's compound, confronts Surd, and leaves him a quadriplegic.
Two decades later, Surd's former colleagues threaten the country again with the same nerve agent Surd had formerly employed. The Quest team is sent to handle this new threat and locate Surd, who is being held in an insane asylum. The Quest team frees the terrorist in order to utilize his knowledge of the chemical compound. Surd is rescued by his henchmen and escapes with a portable Questworld operating system.
Surd frequently assaults the Quest team while they utilize the Questworld virtual reality system from within the computer world. Meanwhile, his henchmen launch strike in the real world against either the Quest headquarters or upon some other object of importance that played into the plot of an individual episode. He in one episode was successful in turning Dr. Quest and Race Bannon into apes.
At the end of the series, Jessie Bannon leaves Surd unable to move within Quest World as well, effectively rendering him harmless.
