Jerónimo de Ayanz y Beaumont

Jerónimo de Ayanz y Beaumont (* Guendulain (Navarre) 1553- † Madrid 23 March 1613). Spanish soldier, painter, musician and an inventor. His best known invention is his design of a steam powered water pump (patented in 1606), for use in mines.
