Jennifer Maiden

Jennifer Maiden (born 7 April 1949) is a contemporary Australian poet.

Jennifer Maiden was born in Penrith, New South Wales. She took a BA at Macquarie University in the 1970s and has been active in Sydney's poetry scene since then. Aside from writing she runs writers workshops with a variety of literary, community and educational organizations and has co-written (with Margaret Cunningham) a manual on literary workshops.

Among Jennifer Maiden’s many accolades are two Kenneth Slessor Prizes for Poetry, the C. J. Dennis Prize for Poetry and the FAW Christopher Brennan Award for lifetime achievement in poetry. She has had residencies at the Australian National University, the University of Western Sydney, Springwood High School and the New South Wales Torture and Trauma Rehabilitation Service. The novel Play With Knives has been translated into German.
