Jenn-Air

The history of Jenn-Air dates back to 1947 when Louis J. Jenn founded the Jenn-Air Products Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the early years, the company was focused on manufacturing and marketing of industrial fans for use in a variety of commercial and industrial applications. In 1961, Jenn-Air's integration of one of these fans to a cook-top range lead to the invention of the first self-ventilated downdraft range. The name Jenn-Air quickly became synonymous with the Jenn-Air range that became commonplace in American kitchens during the second half of the 20th century. As the company became known for its high quality products, the company expanded its product line to include many other kitchen appliances including microwave ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and even small appliances such as mixers and blenders. The Jenn-Air brand was acquired by Maytag Corporation in 1982 which was subsequently purchased by Whirlpool Corporation in 2006. Today Jenn-Air, as part of the Whirlpool family of brands, maintains its reputation as an innovator of high quality kitchen appliances.
