Jelena Karleuša (Serbian Cyrillic: Јелена Карлеуша), also known as JK, is a Serbian folk/pop singer. She is known for the use of sexual, social and religious themes in her work and has been nicknamed the "Serbian Madonna" by the media.
According to companies Diskos (Ogledalce), ZAM (Veštice, Vile), OLIVER (Zovem se Jelena), Grand Production (Gili, Gili), Best Music (Za Svoje Godine), BK Sound (Samo za tvoje oči) and City Records (Magija and JK Revolution) she sold over 2 million albums worldwide.
Karleuša was born in Belgrade on August the 17th 1978. She began her singing career in the mid-1990s and gained popularity with her debut album, Ogledalce (1995), selling more than 100,000 copies worldwide, making it the best-selling album of the 90s in Serbia. She has since had #1 hits, most of which were written by Marina Tucaković. As of 2006, Jelena has released eight studio albums, which charted in Serbia, Montenegro and neighbouring countries such as Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria. She married Bojan Karić in 2004, but the marriage lasted only four months. She is now dating football player Duško Tošić and has moved to Bremen, Northwestern Germany.
Karleusa has announced her pregnancy to Tošić on her official website, and is said to be due in the European spring.
