[edit] Rationale of fair use for Jellyroll (producer)
The image Image:Jelly roll.jpg is being linked here; though the picture is originally copyright, I (Lajbi Holla @ meWho's the boss? 19 December 2006 (UTC)) feel it is covered by fair use because:
- The image is a screenshot from a promotional DVD originally created by Snoopadelic Films, and intended for wide distribution.
- The screenshot is of lower resolution and quality than the original DVD (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).
- No free or public domain images have been located for this picture.
- The screenshot does not limit the copyright owners' rights to distribute DVD in any way.
- The screenshot is intended to represent Jelly roll in person as he contributed to the movie by singing in a music video interlude.
- The screenshot is being used for informational purposes only, and its use is not believed to detract from the original DVD.
[edit] Licensing
This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted film, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the studio which produced the film, and possibly also by any actors appearing in the screenshot. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
